This is bad news for UNISON members in local government.

I appreciate that there may have been no mood for industrial action but it is likely that pay settlements for the nex few years will be low.

Worse still is the outcome of the elections whether Tory or Labour because both support local government pay negotiations becoming decentralised.

With the pace of outsourcing likely only to increase and commissioning becoming as familiar in local government as it is in the NHS this sector looks likely to become a battleground from a TU perspective.
